IMBA / SUBARU TRAIL CARE CREW VISITS
HISTORIC AUSTIN
MAY 29-31, 2004
Home of the Annual Claim Jumpers
Race, the towns folks took a break this year from the race to work on the
local trails. The trail care crew visit began on Friday, with the Trails
from Around the World slide show at the Gridley store and museum.
On Saturday, Central Nevada Mountain Bike members and President, the new
USFS District Ranger and a couple of IMBA members enjoyed the basic trail
building slide show. By late morning we were headed out to the work
site for an afternoon of trail work. Morning coffee and pastries,
along with an scrumptious box lunch were provided by Patsy at T-RIX BIKES
and Jan Foresan at MAIN STREET SHOPS. They following day, riders
went for a trail ride and once again treated to tasty bbq hosted by and at
the T-RIX bike shop.

As you can see, most cyclists chose to dismount for the
crossing. Stream crossings can have a damaging effect on wildlife
and habitat. They also can be fun and challenging for many trail users. The
alternative crossing built will provide both fun and challenge while
minimizing erosion and creek sedimentation.
