Thanks to on-going sponsorship from Subaru of America, the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew is continuing in 2004. Two-fulltime, professional teams of trail experts will travel nearly year-round throughout North America and beyond, leading trailwork sessions, meeting with government officials and land managers, and working with IMBA-affiliated clubs and associations to improve mountain biking opportunities. The crews will also lead a series of at least 60 IMBA Trailbuilding Schools.

Crews will travel in new 2004 Subaru Outbacks provided by Subaru of America - the company that has been IMBA's leading outside-the-bike-industry sponsor since 1997. This past year IMBA's two Trail Care Crews led dozens of trail projects in 36 states, plus Canada and Europe.

Nat and Rachael Lopes

The latest addition to the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew program is the duo of Nat and Rachael Lopes. Nat and Rachael will travel the Western U.S. and Canada leading Trailbuilding Schools, working with local volunteers and land managers. For the past 5 years, Rachael worked as an archaeologist with a breadth of experience that ranges from GIS mapping to soil sampling to burial exhumation. Nat worked as an independent marketing, design and photography consultant; he is also certified as a California Department of Forestry firefighter, a California State Park Docent, and in Wilderness First Aid. Rachael and Nat both hale from California, but have had the opportunity to explore some of the best riding throughout North America
