EVANS CANYON TRAIL WORK
Saturday & Sunday November 22 & 23

Text Box: HELP  BUILD  THE  NEW  REROUTE AROUND  THE  RANCHO  SAN RAFAEL  TOWN HOME DEVELOPMENT

the new reroute will loop south along the top of the pine trees seen above. The new section will be 2 times longer than the original trail (that is on private property) and will have  great  views of the Truckee Meadows as it switch backs up to the rocky ridge

9:00 am - meet in the parking lot at the softball fields at Ranch San Rafael's North Sport Complex.

Tools, lunch and water provided!

We will work on the north end of the canyon, in order to complete the main Evans Creek Trail. We will construct new trail and restore old sections of trail, so types of work will include general trail building, transplanting shrubs and planting new seedlings

This work is being coordinated by the TRUCKEE MEADOWS TRAIL ASSOCIATION in cooperation with the City of Reno, Washoe County, and local interested groups.

If you have questions regarding this work or want to be added to our contact list, please contact Patti Bakker at 786-9955

Evans Creek Trail Work by Mark Vanderhoff

Construction of the Rancho San Rafael Townhome development has begun at the north end of Evans Canyon. The developer is asking that trail users use alternate routes until the Parr Blvd. extension improvements are complete. This development will provide for permanent trail access and connectors through the property when finished.

Till then, please avoid the area under construction. At the very least, do not try to pass through the work zone during times of construction, climb over or knock down the silt fences.

Alternate Access and routes you can use:
1. Hoge Road off Old Virginia Street, just north of the Bonanza Casino, to USFS lands near the radio towers.
2. Keystone Canyon for access – NOT for parking please!
3. Rancho San Rafael North for parking, and the single track that climbs above the “holy house”, parallels McCarran Blvd and connects to Keystone Canyon. Try the rock garden, the “N” track and the “snake” for the return.
