5th ANNUAL MT ROSE HIKE
TO BENEFIT THE NEVADA
LAND CONSERVANCYThis
Saturday, September 25th, the Silver Peak
Restaurant & Brewery will host the
5th annual Mt. Rose hike benefiting Nevada Land Conservancy and its
mission
to preserve and protect the special places and open spaces of Nevada for
future generations. This annual event involves hiking to the 10,770-foot
summit of Mt. Rose to share a pint of Silver Peak’s award-winning, local
microbrew for a suggested $3 donation. In recognition of the event’s
longevity, Nevada Land Conservancy has designed a commemorative t-shirt
donated by Patagonia to celebrate five years of hiking with a purpose.
Silver Peak’s co-owner Trent Schmidt first initiated the hike in September
2000 to show support for the Washoe County Question One bond for Parks,
Libraries, Trails & Open Space. Each year since then Silver Peak
Restaurant
& Brewery has donated their award winning beer and Nevada Land Conservancy
has organized strong volunteers to carry the kegs to the summit. The kegs
will begin the hike in the morning between 8:00 and 8:30 a.m. from the NEW
Mt. Rose trailhead off State Route 431.
For information on joining Saturday's hike - and we are always looking for
strong volunteers to help carry the brew - contact us at 851-5180.
