YOUR INVITED! IMBA TRAIL CARE CREW COMING TO TRUCKEE & KIRKWOOD
The International Mountain Bicycling Association is coming to Truckee,
California October 23-26 and you're invited to join in the special events.
Mark Schmidt and Lora Woolner of the Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew are
teaming with the Truckee Trails Foundation (
http://www.truckeetrails.org/home.html )and the Truckee Donner Land
Trust ( http://www.tdlandtrust.org/
) for a weekend of improving trails.
The visit features an evening slideshow about IMBA, a FREE IMBA
Trailbuilding School and a group ride. This is your opportunity to rub
shoulders with the IMBA crew while learning all about trailbuilding. Check
out all the details below and come join in the fun.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24
7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Around the World with IMBA Slideshow
Come mingle with fellow riders and learn about IMBA's work around the
world. IMBA's Mark Schmidt and Lora Woolner will present a fun and
exciting slideshow about riding and travel adventures in the U.S., Italy,
Wales, Australia, and beyond.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 25
8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. IMBA Trail Building School, Day 1
Get your hands dirty and learn how to build sustainable and fun
singletrack. The school includes three hours of classroom instruction
followed by hands-on time in the field learning trail building techniques.
Topics include designing a contour trail, controlling water flow, building
effective trail structures, and routine trail maintenance.

1:30 - 5:00 p.m. Field session
Donner Lake Rim Trail
The field work will be hands-on trail building, so come prepared. You'll
probably be most comfortable in long pants and a long-sleeved shirt. Wear
sturdy shoes and bring water, snacks, work gloves, sunscreen, and a hat.
Also, if you have any trail building tools - pulaskis, McLeods, rakes,
picks,
shovels, hoes - please bring them, too.
Following the trail work session, there will be a barbecue for volunteers.
The
location will be announced at the school.

Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew: Lora Woolner and
Mark Schmidt
Mark Schmidt and Lora Woolner of Ontario, Canada will travel throughout
the Western U.S. and parts of Canada. Both bring a strong background in
trail building, event coordination, and advocacy. They have worked as
instructors for W.O.W. Ltd. and Hardwood Hills Cross Country Ski and
Mountain Bike Centre, teaching everything from bike skills classes to
mountain bike repair. For the past four years Lora has worked as the
Mountain Bike Coordinator for Kelso Conservation Area. Mark is an
industrial designer who is looking forward to applying his award-winning
design skills to the trail.
