Cycling
Advocacy:
Lance had
nothing new
to report.
Product
Sponsorship:
Justin will
be sending
out updates
via email
for those
that ordered
product.
There are
apparently
problems
with the
Specialized
order
through
Sierra
Cyclesmith
that need to
be worked
out. There
wasn't
enough
response to
complete the
Ridley, Uvex,
or
Honeystinger
orders.
Women's
Clothing:
Darcy
reports that
the new
clothing is
great, and
that lots
are RW women
are going
over the
hill to race
this year.
Hidden
Valley Bike
Course: The
plan is
still to
have a crit
course plus
an outdoor
velodrome
plus a pump
course. The
park Master
Plan needs
to be
updated
before we
can go much
farther.
John
Marshall
needs to
collate all
the info.

meeting with
the

and then set
up a meeting
with the
county to
get the ball
rolling.
Microsoft Sponsorship:
Get update
from Randy
at April
meeting
Website:
Pete wants
to talk to
Jenny about
women's
yahoo
group.
Instead of
more yahoo
mail groups,
it would be
better to
have a
bulletin
board on our
website with
multiple
subgroups
(women,
ride-sharing,
etc.). Pete
will send an
email to the
list to try
to get more
testers for
the bulletin
board. Pete
also is
looking for
help from
someone that
can help us
set up
online
member
renewal.
Some
combination
of Paypal
and
surveymonkey.com?
Treasurer's
Report:
Checking
account
balance
$6865.25,
Money Market
balance
$24,356.47.
The club
also
received a
blank W-9
from
Harrah's
requesting
the legal
name/business
number for
SYCL. Is
this the
same as for
RW, or is
SYCL a
separate
entity (or
do we want
to make it a
separate
entity)?
2008
Event
Planning:
--Peavine
Challenge,
May 31:
everything's
looking
good for
the XC;
no word
from DH
Reno on
the
downhill
race.
If any
downhill
races
happen,
they
will be
stand-alone
(not
part of
Nevada
Cup).
Pete is
working
logistics
and
paperwork
to get
the
Nevada
Cup
series
approved
as the
MTB
state
championships.
--TTT,
June 7:
need to
get in
touch
with Len
Fernandes
for
help/suggestions
on a
possible
TTT
course
in the
Sattley
area.
Rich
will do
some
fact
finding
on this
and
report
back.
--District
TT,
June
8:
Mike
Damon
is
getting
started.
For
both
the
TT
and
possible
TTT,
it
would
be
good
to
get
a
programmable
electronic
sign
from
the
county
to
put
out
a
week
before
the
events
to
notify
local
residents
(and
try
to
minimize
traffic/anger
the
day
of).
Pete
says
we
can
also
get
a
start
count
down
clock
from
Reno/Sparks
to
use
for
our
TT
events.
--Hill
Climb TT
Series:
Spencer
will
schedule
a
planning
meeting
to start
getting
stuff
done
--UNR
Partnership
Road
Event,
August
9: no
update
--Road
Twilights:
Rich
Paul
presented
the 2008
schedule.
He is
working
permits
and
getting
tickets
to the
club
shops,
and will
email
the
schedule
to Pete
to post
on the
website.
--MTB
Twilights:
Pete
needs
some
help
with the
series
(Lance
and
Shawn O'
have
offered
so
far).
There is
currently
nobody
in
charge
of SYCL,
and Pete
absolutely
needs
help for
the
first 3
races
because
he will
be out
of
town.
He will
send out
an email
request
for
help,
but if
he
doesn't
get any
the SYCl
series
may have
to be
cancelled.
Twilight
Insurance:
Shawn
has
submitted
the
application
for
insurance
but
is
still
waiting
on
the
formal
quote.
As
soon
as
he
gets
it,
he
will
send
it
on
to
Justin
for
payment.
Tour de
Nez:
Spencer will
email Tim
Healion to
find out
what RW
involvement
he wants for
this race.
Is the
permitting
still done
through RW?
What are the
events this
year? Are
we to supply
volunteers
again this
year, and if
so can we
have some RW
involvement
(Mike D.) in
the planning
process? It
sounds like
the Tour de
Nez is
evolving
into
something
new, and
maybe it's
time for it
to stand on
it's own and
not
piggyback on
RW.
Club
Mailing:
Spencer will
work on the
2008 Reno
Wheelmen
Race Flyer.
Justin will
supply the
member list,
Spencer will
print the
address
labels, and
Rich Paul
will use the
RGJ envelope
stuffer to
compile the
mailing.
The goal is
to get this
sent out in
the next 2
weeks.
Red Rock
Road
Development:
Cody will
send out an
email about
the public
hearings on
this new
development
that could
severely
impact the
use of Red
Rock Road
for races
(5500 homes
in the next
10 years).
Wednesday
"Practice"
Criteriums:
The
Procrastinating
Pedalers
category "D"
events start
this week
and run
through the
season, 6-7
p.m., at Air
Center.
The Saturday
Ride: Until
the weather
gets
consistently
warm, the
Saturday
ride meets
at Walden's
Coffee at
10:00 a.m.
for the
Verdi "race"
loop(s).
When the
weather
warms up
(mid-May),
the ride
start time
will move up
to 9:00 a.m.
The Sunday
Ride: Still
the
Procrastinating
Pedalers
ride. See
their
website (
www.pedalers.org)
for details.
