2007 Nevada Cup NORBA Nevada State Championship Series 15th Annual Peavine Challenge
Date: XC - Saturday, June 2 DH - Sunday, June 3 Time: XC Registration opens at 8:30am Race Starts at 10:00am DH Practice 1pm-4pm Saturday, 8am-11am Sunday, DH race from 11am-4pm (Best of two run format). Info: www.renowheelmen.org -2007 Results- XC, DH Direction: Race takes place at the Rancho San Rafael Softball Fields. From Reno, go to the intersection of I-80 and N. Virginia Street. Turn North and drive past N. McCarran Blvd. Turn into the Softball Field Parking Lot. Map License: This is a NORBA event. A valid NORBA license is required. One day license available at registration. An annual license may be purchased online at USA Cycling. Fees: Race entry fee is Adults $25.00, Juniors $15.00 Prizes: Cash to overall fastest times and prizes/ awards will be distributed based on category/class. XC Course Description: Pit your skills against the Mountain, Peavine, Reno's Lonely Mountain with long grinding climbs and fast twisty single track. Men Pro, Semi-pro, Men Experts - 2 long laps (26 miles, 4400 ft of climbing). Women Pro, Women Experts, Men Sport, Junior Expert - 1 long, 1 short lap (19.5 miles, 3400 ft). Women Sport, Men Beginners, Junior Sport - 1 long lap (13.5 miles, 2200 ft). Junior Beginners - 1 short lap (7 miles, 1200 ft). Course Map, 3D Map, Elevation Profile. DH Course Description: The Downhill race will use the traditional course used by UNR cycling for collegiate racing. There is a new rocky start and fast upper bermed section followed by the big rock garden. The course then hugs the side of the mountain below the Nevada "N" before launching a jump with a smooth downhill landing. The finish is in the banked canyon where racers will be flying. This is an an approximately 2 minute long (3/4 mile) course for the fast categories. The Start is at an elevation of 5,300' with the Finish at 4,750' for a total descent of 550'. Pros and experts will do all of the rock sections and sport/beginners will do alternate lines, but only through the roughest terrain. The slow pedaling section through the meadow has been eliminated.
