Soldier Meadows Road – Donnelley Peak – Soldier Meadows Road

Day 1: This ride crosses the Calico Mountains above 7,000’. This ride starts on Soldier Meadows Road at the southern shoulder of the Calico Hills. The road travels north between the Calico Mountains Wilderness Area and the west shore of the Black Rock Desert. At mile 13.5 the route turns onto a road that splits the Calico Mountains Wilderness Area from The High Rocks Lake Wilderness Area. It is wilderness as far as you can see! The climb to higher elevations will show off wildflowers and other greenery not found on the desert floor. We will cross Donnelly Creek for water resupply just a few miles before camp.

Day 2: The group will descend to Donnelley Flat then Hualapai Flat before looping around the base of the Calico Hills. Mountain bikes set up for touring are a great choice.

Course is found here.

By the numbers: 2 day trip 56 miles, evenly split. 5,400’ of climbing 4,300’ on day 1. Level of difficulty 8
