Soldier Meadows – Fly Canyon – Soldier Meadows

Day 1: This route is a showcase route for the NCA. The route skirts along Soldier Meadows Rd skirts the eastern edge of the Calico Mountains, Calico Mountain Wilderness and High Rock Lake Wilderness. The views across the Black Rock Desert from Black Rock Point along the Black Rock Range only begs you to cross to ride the Applegate Emigrant Trail (another trip). On the way to Mud Meadow Reservoir the route passes several ranches and homesteads. After a quick visit to Soldier Meadows Hot Springs the route enters Fly Canyon to end the day at the Potholes.

Day 2: the group heads to High Rock Lake and exits to Co. Road 34 at Lund Petrified Forest. The route descends through Leadville Canyon to Hualapai Flat passing current day farms and ranches including Fly Ranch.
